Lentil
Lentil is a special little bean. He's probably 20 years old and has bones like a bird- understandably, since most birds weigh more than he does at a teeny 2lbs. He has dementia and isn't always (read: is almost always not) sure where he is or what's going on, but all that means is that every day is a pleasant suprise! Besides, he remembers the important things, like his mom Sophiane, his brother Ollivander, where the food is, and he's perfected walking in circles to the point of art. Sometimes he even surprises us by doing something very non-cognitive-deficient, like push all the empty bowls on the floor around, making as much noise as possible so that his mom will come refill them.
But Lentil had a very difficult start. Not only was he brought into the shelter as a stray, he suffered a stroke while under anesthesia for a indisputably needed dentistry surgery. For two weeks, it was extremely touch-and-go, and he stayed with Sophiane- who is a veterinary technician. With the combined, enormous efforts of our vet, the vets at VCA Aspenwood, Dr. Stacy McVickers (of Animal Care Center of Castle Pines), and the staff at The Feline Fix, Lentil finally started to recover. Soon, he was able to stand, drink, and eat on his own. And after another few weeks, he was back to "normal" (not really normal, but his normal- which we find ourselves saying a lot about our dogs, since they're all pretty weird). He still requires a lot of special care and attention, but he's finally able to enjoy a life of catered luxury.
Lentil's Wishlist: washable pee pads, poise pads (extra long), FortiFlora, xxxs-xxs dog sweaters and shirts, distilled white vinegar, and meat-only baby food.
